Reloading .308's that will be shot one at a time in my gun. It looks like 2.880 will put me about .010 off of the rifling. Will this hurt anything? As in being too long?
The gun is a 700 VLS and it is a Lapua case and a 168 Matchking.
Thanks for helping,
Scott.

Re: OAL question

Seems a quite a bit short for that bullet and factory VLS chamber.

How are you measuring this?

2.88 is about max COAL, edge-edge in a AICS mag with still a good SMK jump in any Rem 700 I've loaded for.

If your going to load to lands, measure off of O-give. If your basing load work off inaccurate info, it could be a issue.

Re: OAL question

Good question shouldn't the bullet be in complete contact with the entire length of the neck? In My Rem 700 .308's (2) the bullet is actually about to fall out of the case neck before it reaches the lands 168gr amax though.

That part.
I'm not sure what your reference points are or methods to relate.
