I'm plaining on running a AAC SD with a 51 muzzle brake on my OBR... I've read on a couple subject topics that the threads were cut long (muzzle brake wouldn't bottom out even when none of the shims were ultilized...) therefore the brake would not index correctly. Anybody running this type of set up have the same issues? I really don't care for modified spacers or the like to make it work.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

Isn't AAC making deep thread mounts now, just for this problem? Thought I read that somewhere....they used the Ruger Scout rifle as an example of where they needed it. Other than that, I know at least one guy who just talked to Alfred at Larue, and Alfred hooked 'em up with an extra pack of shims.

Good post and information. I'm in the same situation when my AAC SDN6 clears Form 4, at which time I'll need to install the Blackout. Didn't know they have an updated model.
Until then, I'm using the factory installed Surefire.

Call LaRue and ask for Alfred. He will square you away with a spacer they have exactly for this issue. I tried to get AAC to help with the problem, but after several weeks and "We are working on the issue", I gave up.

Here is mine with the shim, works great:

Chainring: The rings are 1.075, which puts the scope about 1.5" when you add in the height of the 20MOA OBR rail. If you are gonna use a larger objective scope, then the OBR mount or SPR mount work well with the CTR/RISR combo or Magpul PRS. I wanted to save a few ounces, and have the scope as close to the bore as possible.
