Rifle Scopes Ocular adjustment and Lasik Surgery

I'm considering Lasik surgery to correct a slight astigmatism. The eye doc told me that most people will need reading glasses as they age due to nearsightedness. Will the ocular adjustment correct for nearsightedness? I'm a little confused about what the ocular adjustment corrects. I know it brings the reticle into focus but what is it correcting?

You have that backwards. Nearsighted means you have good close up vision, farsighted means being able to see far but not being able to see close up. Reading glasses are to correct farsightedness.

Yep, you're right. So what does the ocular correct for in your vision?
