I went out to the range this weekend to do some load development with the details below. I noticed a massive difference in my SD and ES between the two powders I tried. Varget had showed mostly single digit SDs and a couple in the low teens. H4895 on the other hand showed high teens to mid 20s for SD.
-The caliber was 223 rem
-Lapua brass from the same batch and prepared the same way
-same BR4 primers
-same 73gr ELD bullets from the same batch
-5 rounds loaded for each or the ten different 0.2gr increments (50 rounds total for each powder)
-magneto speed chromo
-same rifle

the Varget was even compressed and still showed good SDs and ESs

I recently tried h4895 in my heavy bullet .223 ammo. Varget had been my normal powder. H4895 worked great for me. I have his 8lb jug of it which wasnt allocated for anyhing else, so i was pretty happy. Gave me a velocity boost too.

If i were you(and maybe you have already done this), id play with seating depth to see If i could tune it up a bit. Consider a primer change as well.

Some primers work better, with some powders.

I may have to try seating seating depths and new primers with the H4895. I am very excited about using H4895 as the velocities are outstanding and I never even hit max charge as well as the groups being consistent and tight regardless of the larger SD. Which is odd to me. The group below had an SD of 25 and ES of 58 but look at how tight the four out of five shots are. Doesn't make sense to me. Almost all of the different charge increments hit the center of the target with very little deviation in POI. All five shoot groups did have at least one flyer but none of the four shot groups measured over 0.900"
