I went out to the range this weekend to do some load development with the details below. I noticed a massive difference in my SD and ES between the two powders I tried. Varget had showed mostly single digit SDs and a couple in the low teens. H4895 on the other hand showed high teens to mid 20s for SD.
-The caliber was 223 rem
-Lapua brass from the same batch and prepared the same way
-same BR4 primers
-same 73gr ELD bullets from the same batch
-5 rounds loaded for each or the ten different 0.2gr increments (50 rounds total for each powder)
-magneto speed chromo
-same rifle
the Varget was even compressed and still showed good SDs and ESs
