Here we go!!!

Our first match will be on April 3rd. Registration will begin at 10:00 AM. Match fee is $10. COF is 40 rounds for score, typically split into two seperate relays. 30 minutes each relay, to include all the sighter rounds you may need.

We have a great group that includes "seasoned" 1K shooters and also those that have traveled the nation participating in many of the Tactical matches that you have no doubt read about here at the Hide. Sprinkled amongst us are some BR folks too.

Many of the newer shooters we`ve welcomed the last 2 years have progressed rapidly. I`m looking forward to some more joining in on the safe, enjoyable atmosphere we have enjoyed.

I`ll have at least one rifle and ammo to loan out should someone need it.

Thanks!

Scott

I just met 2 other local hide members a range and they told me about your shoot. It sounds like allot of fun. I just don’t know the rules. They had one of your targets so I am now familiar with that. I hope I am able to attend. I have some more guys from my military unit that would also be interested but I don’t know if you have space for allot of guys.

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class April 3rd

Jon,

We have 6 positions per relay...if 2 relays worth of targets are on the backers (as we tend to do), we can do both relays in just over an hour before we need to go downrange to post up another set. On average, with 10 to 15 guns, we finish about 1:30...but I`ll stay until dark to get everyone finished if need be. So space is not an issue.

How big is your bus?

Still unsure on the plans for that weekend. I'm hoping I can make it, but I don't know how many family members I want to tick off in the process...

Any new guys thinking about this, I just started last year. Scott is great about making sure you know what you need to know about the match. Scott, along with everyone else, will make you feel welcome as well. I managed to have a great time and and learn a lot.

My first match, I watched the first two relays and shot in the last relay. If you are new, you can take the opporunity to watch at least one relay before shooting depending on the number of relays needed for the day.

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class April 3rd

Hi Jon; Nice to meet up with you again at the Rochester Brooks Club, thanks for the test drive on your WinMag, you should do well at Odessa.

The rules; 40 rds for score, 10 rds fired per target, 20rds per relay and the relay is timed at 30minutes. Unlimited sighters prior to moving on to score, most people are dialed in and take 2-5 shots to confirm. We break for 10 minutes to allow time for barrels to cool and shoot the next relay of 20rds.
Scott generally puts 6 shooters on the line but there could be room 8-10 at a time. As long we put all you WinMag w/brake guys together on one relay lol.
We see .223 on up to 300WM, bipod puts you in F-TR class a front adjustable stand will put you Open class, which you may be in anyhow due to the caliber you're shooting.
After match burger and pint is always fun at the Roosterfish Pub. see you there. Clint

Clint

You’r more than welcome to shoot any rig I have at the range that day. It helps me to with my hand loads. I might think I have a bad load but then someone else shoots a bug hole with it and I know it’s me.

I have 2 other rigs with out brakes that I can shoot in the other classes. One is heading out this week to the smith for re chambering 7 rounds fired and going from 260 to 260 AI. Having the muzzle threaded and a 20 MOA base installed.

I hope I can make it if not this time than next my neighbor is having a party that day it's a annual thing and if I’m not there I go to the black list and If I want that 1500 yards I told you about to shoot on the black list is a real bad thing!

I peek at NOAA for the weather forecasts. The trend appears to be in for a change. My trust in them extends outward for only 48 hours... if that. But it appears we may see some improvement in the temps by late next week.

Fingers and toes are crossed for next week for sure...

And I was going to start digging for my speedo! Not.

Looks like I'm in. I'll be sure to get there early. I'll need to get in the first relay and be on my way when I'm done. Dinner in Allentown that night.

It'll be good to see everyone again and get some range time! I'll be curious to see how all my stuff comes together at 200 yards.

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class April 3rd

I will be there with my boonie hat and a new barrel! I think Howard is in also. I have to donate blood at 0730 in Spencer and will be heading up after.......Scott, I printed off about 50 of the targets from last year for you. I'll bring them to the match.

Re: Odessa FV 200yd F-Class April 3rd

If you're giving blood, be sure to also bring along a hefty jug of orange juice and maybe some solid snacks, too.

I've experienced some instnces of blood loss where ER folks have given me the option of a transfusion. I prefer to decline when I hsve the option, and they generally stoke me up with orange juice as an alternative. Doing nothing generally results in plummeting blood sugar and a physical crash.
