I am looking at a older S&B PMII. Approx 2001. Glass wise how would this compare to a current nightforce/vortex? Unable to put scope in my hands. Just curious how much advancement glasswise has been made over the last 10 years. Kinda of a vauge and loaded question I know.

Re: older S&B compared to current scopes

.....
Two years ago I traded a 2001 vintage 3-12x50 PMII for a bran new 5-25x56 PMII.
I spent several evenings (before I sent in the 3-12) looking back and forth between them as twiglght set.
The 3-12 did not have a AO.
It held up real well against its big brother in the dark and near dark at the same power.
The big boy could always trump the 3-12 with it big obj.and power.
But the difference was not dramatic.

That is understandable as the bigger objective will be brighter on equal mag. This will be my first s&b. Just want to make sure I know what I am getting as it is a bunch of coin on a 10 year old optic when a new nightforce f1 would be better with more adjustment for less money.
