I have a new AXMC .338 that obviously has a chamber that is longer than the magazine(about 3.88). I would like to load my ammo to fit and feed reliably through the magazine supplied with the rifle.

Are there any issues that could arise if I jump this bullet too far in this caliber? This is my first large magnum round to load for. Tried to get in touch with AI but Mile High said they are very busy at the moment with military work. Anyone have some load data for a 300 berger hybrid in an AI?

Ok sounds good, and one last question. When I pulled the firing pin mechanism out to feel bolt pressure when closing...

Empty chamber, bolt is loose' goosy'

Empty piece of lapua brass, bolt is still loose but has a little drag

Loaded round, bolt has some resistance but isn't 'that' hard to press down.

Any cause for concern having a little resistance on closing the bolt?

One thing about single loading a longer chamber, you can take advantage of the Lapua case, and enjoy what the Lapua case can truly be. The bad part, is single loading. Lol

Just found my sticky loading issue, Lapua brass was not letting the primers go in flush with the back of the case (causing bolt tension upon loading)
I reamed all my Lapua primer pockets. Material came off of every 338 case. But I don’t remember the primers not seating flush before hand. Anyway, ream your pockets
