Gunsmithing open up a sako bolt

I have a TRG-42 in 300WM and I want to open up the bolt face to rechamber the gun into a 300 Norma, has anyone ever opened up a Sako boltface?

Not opening one up but repacement bodies are available for about the same price as a rem 700 1 piece bolt

thanks, but that was for the 300 WM bolt, here is the one for the 338 bolt

it is $381 dealer cost through brownells, I would prefer to open mine unless I can get one for $150

Adam B, please forgive me I am not trying to Hijack your post, but I have the same question, I have a Sako l61r Action that I want to also build A 338 norma on and I need to know the same thing, whether or not It can be opened up and if there is someone here that can do it. The action used to be a 338 win mag. once again forgive me for jumping in, thanx

I don't know that Kampfeld's will do the Sako bolt or not but give him a call. He opened up a 223 R700 bolt to 300WSM and installed a Sako extractor. It came out perfect. Good luck.

Yes it can be done I've had a few TRG-S M995 actions done.
