Got my antelope this morning with a 300 win mag shooting a 180 gr nosler partition, I know this is overkill but it is the only caliber rifle I have that is legal on big game in CO at the moment so I made due. Have to say I am more than impressed with the nosler partition though, shot was 217 yards on the goad at a dead run and went in behind rib cage on right side and broke the left shoulder and it never moved 2 feet after getting hit. I was not happy with these bullets when loading because of the variation of up to .3 gr in bullet weight up or down from 180 and with the flat base they are not the easiest to get started to seat but after seeing the results I cant complain too much. Cant wait for 4th rifle elk season now.

Congrats

With Loadbase 2.0 I ran 179.7 vs. 180.3 grain bullets.
With everything else being equal there was no difference in POI out to 3000 yds...for what its worth.
Good luck on your Elk hunt

yote thanks for the tip I actually have the forester base and tool on order just not here yet hopefully that will solve the problem. That is interesting about POI being the same, all my test loads were doing good and second round of tests were good in fact I didn't start weighing them until I was loading up hunting rounds for some reason. Will have to try them and see. Thanks.
