I am debating on getting a 6.5x47 Lapua. Looking for a very accurate round upto 1200 +/- yards. Anyone have experience with this round? From what I can find it seems to be very accurate. Pros/Cons?

Re: Opinion on 6.5x47 Lapua

I would def. recommend a search on it, as there are probably numerous threads containing info on that round, and that round versus say the .260 Rem and 6.5 Creedmoor. U can try entering into Google the following:

6.5x47 Lapua site:snipershide.com
^^^Copy and Paste this if you'd like

EDIT: my honest quick opinion is: anything the 6.5 Lapua can do, the .260 Rem can do it better. Cheaper brass for the .260 available as well. however, Factory Match 6.5 Creedmoor ammo from Hornady is supposed to be darn good if you don't feel like reloading and it can be found for around $22 per box if you're persistent in your search for it, in the right places.

Hope that helps.

Re: Opinion on 6.5x47 Lapua

I searched snipershide and found 8 pages of discussions about brass and firearms for sale for the most part. Didnt think my question was out of line for a new thread.

I've searched online and found some good info. I know there are some great shooters here and am just trying to get some input from people whom have or had shot this round.

Question is not out of line at all.

This is just the wrong subforum for it. You would probably get a lot more replies and information if you posted it in the Bolt Action, Gunsmithing, or even the ELR subforums.
