Looking for a slightly smaller profile carry pistol. Currently I carry my 1911 but even with my pancake holster it's still presents a larger profile than I'd like.

I was looking at the Ruger SR9 yesterday and liked the size, only wish they had it in .40S&W.

Any thoughts good or bad or other recommendations?

Jeff In TX,

I consider most Ruger Semi auto's ( except their 22's)to be fine paper weights. Way too many problems and recalls.

Looking for a small 40 S&W? Sig 239, or Glock 27. Both are small and reliable. Both are more expensive than the Ruger, but reliability and an excellent track record is worth something.

Try an IWB. I've carried a full-size for years. Just have to be careful bending down.

Re: Opinions of the Ruger SR9

There's a safety recall out there on the SR9, something along the lines of it still being capable of a discharge even when the safety is on.

IMO, the extra 100 bucks that it costs to get a G27, 29, or 30 is well worth it.

I own a P95 and I like it for what I use it for, a range toy.

Re: Opinions of the Ruger SR9

The SR9's I have seen have very heavy trigger pulls. One of those was returned and traded for something else due to trigger.

I have several Glocks, and I always end up carrying a 19. The 26 I have is really too small for my hand. It does have the added Pearce grips on the magazines which does help. But I can't drop a magazine from it without changing my grip.

So i would look into a G19 or Sig 228.

Friend of mine has one trigger is far to heavy, shoots like a pig, the part that takes the recoil of the slide is stamped metal screwed into the plastic frame. Spend an extra 100 bucks and get a decent gun. This one is APOS IMO
