To be upfront, I’m not actually looking to replace my RPRR but I’m always cruising the internet building rifles in my head.

Has anyone shot a CZ457 in a manners stock compared to a Vudoo in a ridgeback stock?

Just curious about how they stack up considering there’s a $1,500 difference in price.

If you never plan on changing stocks or triggers or want the aics pattern mags, the 457 shoots well enough to save $1500.

If you might want to change things up, the vudoo is really the only option.

Factory guns can be hit/miss...

There are some that shoot great. You probably saw the guys posting about them.

All V22 shoot great as far as I know. I have not seen anyone complain about them. Had a great shootin CZ 455. Got the V22, no comparison in accuracy. The 455 shot some amazing groups. Pretty consistent. But there were flyers. My v22 shoots amazing, VERY consistently. That is the difference for me. I balked at spending that kinda money till I shot my first groups with the V22. No 1000 round break in crap, no try this torque that torque, no BS. Pull the gun out of the safe, load it and shoot...

I have a CZ 455 Varmint and a Vudoo. Every time I shoot the Vudoo it makes me smile. The CZ, not so much. ;)
I used to shoot 200-300 rounds a week with my CZ...constantly tweaking...trying to make it shoot better. Now, with the V22 I hardly shoot...no need to obsessively go to the range to make it shoot better.

I wish I’d never have clicked this thread....was leaning CZ. It’s nice to shoot a squirrel, but picking which eye is apparently the big D vs little d.
Unfortunately I’m currently stuck in the latter.

My experience mimics his exactly. The first two groups out of the gun at 50yds.. the first could be covered with half a dime. The second 3/4 of a dime and it shot effortless. I have shot 3 kinds of ammo through it now every group shot with ease and all could be covered a dime. I have not ever had better customer service. And I have owned a kidd, Annie's, custom br rigs. This rifle has been the most enjoyable thing to shoot since I have started shooting. Ever. I am selling every gin I own to buy another one. It's that nice. I have 5 cz 457s and they all shoot well. For off the shelf I think they are the best thing out there until you tall about Anschutz money. Ans for that......no question what I would buy. Vudoo all the way.

There isn't any comparison. You're talkin about a Ferrari vs a Ford Taurus.
The Vudoo guns are works of Art that you can drag through the woods.
I have a super nice Cooper but its in a french walnut stock with tiger stripes, and I refuse to dare try to take that to the woods.
If you've seen it , you know why. If not, here it is below.

CZ used to be the go to. They are very accurate and feed well BUT loading mags in the gun sucks, bolt lift and manipulation is rough, and triggers suck.

Vudoo has changed the game and I wouldn’t buy a CZ in this day in age unless I just couldn’t afford the extra cost.

That being said saving $1500 ain’t no joke. You can probably deal with the little mags and work the action to smooth it out for that cost. CZ is the next best thing to me if you can’t get a Vudoo.

I see 457’s in the Manners for around $700 fonthats a good deal

I have a CZ 457 but if I could afford a Vudoo that is what I would own. FWIW I used to have a RPR. My son used it for NRL style matches. We sold it and bought him a Tikka T1x. We were never happy with the Ruger and couldn’t be happier with the Tikka.

I just transitioned from a 455 to a v22.
After spending that much on a v22 I know I'm biased , but I would say the difference is huge. Fit and finish, accuracy, consistency, and feel is night and day.

One thing I will say in favor of the cz though. It taught me a lot about sorting, tweaking, and made me shoot more in order to chase that tiny group. I'd like to think that made me a better shooter. I'd go out and that 5th round flyer would always have me shooting 20-50 rounds more then what I originally set out for. I'd miss #7 on the kyl rack and have to run another set just to make sure it was a flyer and not myself missing. With the vudoo, it's the shooter.

Also should be noted you can throw on 22lr/ 22mag/17hmr barrels on the 455 so if you hunt small game on the side you'll find that useful.

Honestly I wouldn't have done it different, pick up a used 455 and dip rail, throw a nice scope on it and shoot the piss out of it. When your ready, pick up a vudoo, throw that scope on it and now you got a top notch rabbit/ squirrel rifle you can go shoot baseclass with and a vudoo to shoot unlimited.

Right there with ya in some of the comments. Factory barrels can be great. A lot depends on finding the right ammo/lot for your rifle. I’ve got a 455 that shoots pretty good and has beaten many Vudoos. Will it consistently shoot better groups with a wider variety of ammo compared to a Vudoo? Negative, but it keeps me competitive enough to have guns and win matches.

I have a 455 with the Manners stock and Lilja barrel. I've never shot the Vudoo, even thought the owner (one of them?) apparently lives in my neighborhood.

The results people post about their Vudoos here is what I get with my 455 and the right ammo mix; so I dont see a point of switching as I gain nothing.

I'll admit that the rail and mag system on the Vudoo are better as the ways the base mounts on the CZ is absolutely retarded.

That's pretty much the point of the Vudoo. You get better mags, better scope base, use stock of choice, trigger of choice, and the bolt manipulation is better.

Accuracy wise the 455/457 will compete against it. They are both very good just the Vudoo is better due to the above mentioned things. Now is it $2000 better.... No but I do not regret buying mine for second as it is a blast to shoot.

In my opinion the CZ’s are the best value for someone just getting into precision 22 matches such as NRL22. You can learn fundamentals and get some trigger time without breaking the bank. While Vudoo’s are top of the line, they won’t make a poor shooter a match winner overnight.

We understand. The vudoo is expensive and you’re on a budget.

Just be glad you aren't up in Canada here, it's way more than $1500.

The v22 action alone here is $2500 -

A CZ 457 or a Tikka T1x is $650 ... for complete rifle.

I have several CZ455’s, trust me, the Vudoo is in another league all together.
