I have been really putting off making a decision on a scope for my recent build. It's a 243 win with bartlein barrel and McMillan stock that shoots 105 vlds quite well. I am not sure what would be considered overkill. But what I am wanting is a ffp MOA/MOA with illumination. I have been looking at vortex pst and the razor along with nf nsx with moar. There are others out there like us optics and premier but i would have to get lucky and find one used. It is also quite difficult to get these in my hands I would be open to offers....this is a new scope gents!to inspect. This gun will be used for hunting primarily. Pigs in late evening, coyotes, deer out to 500, and targets possibly out to 800 are my intentions. I would like to keep my budget set at 2k. I want good glass big sweet spot and rugged feel. What would your pick be and why. Thanks

Well the NF NSX is SFP I am pretty sure. Personally I LOVE the vortex razor HD its a great scope. I have one on my 6.5 creed and wouldnt go any other route for that price range. It is a little heavy for a hunting gun but it is definitely a quality piece of glass. Another to look at if you want to save a few hundred is the SWFA SS 5-20x50HD I have both and prefer the razor but they are good scopes.

Do you NEED a FFP optic, or do you want one because that's what all the rage is? I ask because for hunting and the occasional paper punching out to 800yds, I think it would be a waste.

If you decide that you don't NEED a FFP then you should look at the NightForce ATACR with the MOAR reticle. It is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than the NXS in terms of clarity and contrast.
