This is not intended to bash any optic brand what so ever.

I hear and have read on other posts that one scopes clarity sucks, or isn't near as good as another.

Wouldn't this be dictated more by how one "veiws" an optic? Meaning the shooters eyes or eyesight.

What is the better of the following to you?

    Re: Optic Clarity?

So you want to know what optic has the worst clarity or best??? Your kinda vague in your post.

    Re: Optic Clarity?

I don't see what price and purpose has to do with it. Maybe I should have asked differently but I don't see that breaking it down would really change much.

People who think brand A is the shit will vote brand A. People who have never looked through brand B may think they are. That's probably a better reason not to post what I posted more than anything else.

I have read over time several posts about this sucks, this is better, etc.
After shooting recently against several others we swapped rigs and shot something we were not used to, etc. Optics was a large part of the discussion.

If I am that far out, one of the mods can delete, sure won't hurt my feelings any.

    Re: Optic Clarity?

Nikon, Leupold, and Bushnell each have several different classes of optics. They do not all use the same glass. A Bushnell Elite will have better glass than a Banner, for example.

    Re: Optic Clarity?

I have actually owned or used every optic on your list and the two obvious exceptions.

Based soley on optical clarity and quality, Henny is tops, S&B and Premier are a close and equal second, period.

But, that should be pretty low on the list of reasons to choose an optic.

    Re: Optic Clarity?

When i was looking at optics for my mk12 clone i wanted to do a exact replica with a nf scope but looking through one my eyes just didnt like it. It just seemed to have a hint of dark blue if that makes sense. It may have been just that scope as glass differs from batch to batch i would assume. Plus nf isnt made in usa like uso.

    + 1

    Re: Optic Clarity?

    +1.

    1st) Henny/Zeiss
2nd) Premier (Sorry no experience to the S&B)

if price is a big factor, my 3rd will go to Burris.

After getting my first Zeiss conquest, sold all my nikons, lepos, but keep two Burris Euro Diamond. Like my lepo Mark 4, sold because it has very good resale value.

Should add Zeiss to the list.

Zeiss glass and NF turrets and reticles would be sweet.

Meopta and IOR both have good hunting offerings for sub 1k too. I think when the Zeiss Classik line was out they were made by Meopta but I'm not 100% positive.

    Re: Optic Clarity?

Funny you said it had a blue hue to it. A friend of mine has a NF 5.5x20 or what ever it is but when I looked through it everything had a blue hue around it like it was outlined in dark blue and as the blue moved away from the target it got lighter in color. That is the only scope that, that has ever happened.

    Re: Optic Clarity?

I always get a kick out of people making blanket statements about the "glass quality" of companies that may offer scopes with optical designs spanning 15 or 20 years of development time, with some models being very good and some being thoroughly unimpressive. Even different models from the same product line may show significant differences in optical quality, e.g. because one of them uses a better corrected objective system. Someone talking about "company XY using good glass" most of the time is a sure sign of a thorough lack of understanding of the subject.
