I have a cpl scopes that I love, a Weaver FFP 3-15, Vortex Viper 6.5-20 (for $) and of course all the Loopy's. Is the SWFA SS like the 10x 30mm in SFP any good, or compare to the Vortex Viper? I like the Viper, only downfall is the eye relief. I'm looking for an optic, less the $500 that compares to Vortex glass. Also be a hunting optic for a hunting rig that tracks good with Japanese glass, Any input guys?
BTW I know the FFP SS's are good stuff (HD models) but how do they compare to the HD's?

If you want a mil dot your going to have a hard time finding anything. Zeiss, Minox, or the Vortex HS scopes would be the way to go if a mil dot is not important. The fixed SS scope would not be good hunting scope in my opinion to heavy and high magnification. The glass isn't really that great either like a Bushnell XLT scope. To bad Vortex isn't making the 5-15 which they made for Midway anymore.

Super sniper 3-9 or leupold vx-r patrol. Both can be had for ~500 used. The super sniper is an all around better scope but the leupie has a low profile and center illuminated thick reticule which would be more desirable in a hunting scope.
