Re: Optic Suggestion Remington LTR

You are going to get a lot of subjective answers to your question.

Come up with a max distance you plan to shoot, type of shooting (target, hunting, competition) and a budget and you will get plenty of opinions.

There are lots of right answers for this one.

^^ +1 on the Counter Sniper's. I heard Jesus makes their glass out of Iraqi sand...or maybe it was Allah. Whatever, I can't remember what their customer service told me now...

Re: Optic Suggestion Remington LTR

Since I'm a Nightforce fan, my favorite all around scope is the 3.5-15X50. It has a good practical low range and a high range that can have you doing precision shooting too.

A 10X top end is considered by many to be good for tactical type of shooting (at steel and other larger targets), but 10X won't be enough for real precision. Of course, this is just subjective.

RONK</div></div> OK, some of the others are trying to have fun with you suggesting the Counter Sniper crap. Ignore them.

You need to help us help you. How are you intending to be using this rifle? Distances, target sizes, field use, competitions, low light, etc... Most of all, what is your budget?

Give context to your question. We're not mind readers and without this info you'll get advice to buy everything from Bushnell to S&B.

Re: Optic Suggestion Remington LTR

My LTR is a handy rifle that would look odd with a Hubble bolted to it. Some can try and make the carbine length rifle a 1000 yard contender, or a gnat denutter, mine is a hunting rifle.

3.5-10X with a 40mm objective looks right and works well, even in low light. I've had it awhile now, it has an older loopie I dont think they make anymore. However compared to the much larger objective scopes it is alot sleeker and handier rifle in brush and in and out of a vehicle.

That said the rig has gone 1000 but its not my LR rifle. It has done many a sweet 100 yard group to show not all Remington barrels are tomato stakes. The scope isnt a handicap out to 600 yards at which point other ballistic factors tend to limit performance.

Good luck

I agree. I think you need a rifle scope that has a tube and glass and knobby things to adjust it with.

My answer is as specific as your question.

Now if you care to tell us what you will actually be doing with the rifle, your experience level and most importantly your budget, then we may be able to help you pick a scope.

Re: Optic Suggestion Remington LTR

I've got a USO ST-10 on my LTR, the base scope will cost you about the same as a leupold, but the scope is a hell of a lot better in optical quality, construction, and optional features. I'm trading it in on a higher power variable, that is in mil/mil. You can get these things about 10,000 different ways as they build each one as a custom order.

That being said I am looking to upgrade both the rifle and the optics very soon. I've loved this one alot, However it is still in the classifieds.
