Rifle Scopes Optic top ten

Re: Optic top ten

i would say, on the low end of the scopes:

1-super sniper
2-falcon menace
3-bushnell tactical
4-vortex viper
5-horus vision or luppy

and then again, if he invest all that money on a supper rifle; why come short on the glass.

Well i'm just waiting for his response, but here was our recent discussion.

What kind of set up were you looking at again? the .300WSM or the .338? or what? any idea what rifle ? AR30, Savage?
Kinda makes a difference. and price is the reason.

i'm not sure you really are catching the drift on how much a big bore will cost to shoot. </div></div>

I was pretty deeply considering the savage 110 ba in the 338.

I had considered going to the 300 just for cost ration but i don't think i want to i am pretty sure i want the 338.

And i am doing my research as to the overall cost. that is why i am looking into all of the pieces before i "pull the trigger" on getting anything.

Thanks again for your help </div></div>

I do feel the need to point out some things that I'm sure you've already considered.
What kind of guns have you shot before? what Calibers? How far away have you shot before?

.338 has the ability to be a tack driver but ammo is crazy expensive, and there will be no reason to shoot it inside 1000m. do you have somewhere that you can even go to shoot that far?
when i was asking about optic choices to those guys that know their shit...they were comparing it to going from "T-ball to the Majors" overnight.

I guess it really comes down to what guns you have...and what guns you've shot with. if you've got experience with some of the bigger guns already. (.270, 7mm, .300) etc...then i say fucking go for it and buy one, its a bad ass set up.</div></div>

Re: Optic top ten

Being new to this site and relatively new to shooting, I would offer this advice:
My friends like the Leupold Mark 4 types for quality optics on a relative budget. That is what I am saving for. I would HIGHLY recommend you get this guy on a range with a variety of guns (at least some variations of .223 and .308) so that he can get his feet wet with some real shooting. Nothing helps form an opinion like hands-on experience. Once he gets some trigger time on the basics he may change his mind on his own. I also recommend getting him to some friendly competitions. I am preparing for a match this April and the other shooters are very helpful. I am going to check out what the real shooters are using on the real long range and digest that BEFORE I buy.

Re: Optic top ten

well like you said, being new to the sight i am just assuming you didnt read the whole thread. and thats ok.

He used to be a room mate, now he lives 12h away in Denver...so while i would def offer assistance... It isn't feasible for me to do the offering anymore.
When i find out what weapons he has shot, it will solidify my stance on to discourage or promote his choice of caliber and then give him the optic choices the fellas have set forth.
