Hey guys. I have a small problem that I was hoping some more experienced/knowledgeable people could help me out with.

I have two .308 rifles that I want to get a suppressor for. One is a bolt action, and the other is an M14. I recently bought the Delta P attachment for the M14 that converts its to a normal thread pattern for all .308 rifles. My main problem now is, I can't decide if I want to go with a system like Surefire that has a built in muzzle break or flash hider, or a suppressor that is threaded.

Hopefully you guys can help me out with making a decision.

Re: Options for .308

Oh wow... Seems like way too much trouble to get the M14 suppressor ready. Well then, lets just stick to the bolt action rifle. What has everyone seen with results on those? Is there a big enough difference in sound with say like, a surefire muzzle brake (or any other brake for that matter), that would make choosing a suppressor that uses that a no go. Versus using a flash hider adapter or none at all, and going with a threaded suppressor? The bolt action rifle is being used at ranges, hunting, and for fun at the ranch. I would also like to reduce the dust cloud when firing prone on dirt/sand as well.

Re: Options for .308

Well, hang on....

I have many .308 and run cans on all of them. Whereas it is true that the M14 is not as quiet as the bolt guns, I still always prefer suppressed shooting. Shooting rude is long gone.

Your issue is having your can be able to access true, clean, gauged threads on EITHER rifle. The important OPERATIONAL issue on your M14, that being the gas spindle remains on/in the M14.

You need to ask yourself these questions:

1. If I can shoot suppressed, would I do that most often?

2. Will my M14 be shot exclusively with a scope?

3. What can companies provide a "tuned" system for the M14 with a great can that I can swap off on other .30 weapons?

Answer those questions and you are on your way.
