So I am going to set-up my POF p415 for my wife to shot (so i can get out to the range more) and am looking for options for good optics. I'm looking for something that would work out to 400 yards but also work for close range. Any suggestions and opinions would be welcome.

I reall like my Leupold Mark 4 MR/T 1.5-5x20 with the CM-R2 reticle. Easy accurate hits at close range and when needef 5x was good enough to shoot sub moa at 500yds.

You could also look at a NF 2.5-10 or Vortex 1-6

A little more info such as main use, target size and what is close in for you? My Vortex 1-6x will work from arms length to being able to hit 8" steel at 400 yards but it's not the optic I would use to shoot small groups or on 1/2 MOA sized targets.

Also price range? Help us, help you ;)

Agree with Rob, more info will glean better options.
Do not rule out an ACOG if not group shooing.
NF 2.5-10x24 is my AR optic of choice.
I have a USO 1.8-10 which is good but a bit large and heavy for field use.

Right now main use will be paper out to 200 and steel (6"-36") out to 400. Also use for 3 gun on occasion but use irons for that and can remove optic if need be. Budget wise looking to go up to 1500. Also needs to be durable incase I want to use the optic in 3 gun as well, but this will mainly be my wife's "long range" gun till I can get her a bolt gun that's accurate and has very little recoil. (She's had three shoulder surgeries and has no muscle left on front of shoulder to help with recoil.

Pick up a Vortex Razor II 1-6x24. Will do what you need and is very durable. Been using one for 3 gun the past couple years and no problems after dumping in barrels and banging it around. After using this in 3 gun you will lose the irons and shoot Tac Optics ;)

I've used the following on various AR's on steel out to 400 yards and all worked well:

Weaver Tactical 1-5x
Bushnell 1-6.5x (FFP reticle)
Bushnell 1-8.5x

I also have a Leupold Mk6 1-6x that I haven't mounted on anything. I'm a little variable optic heavy so I'm not sure that I'll keep it but the glass is clear and the reticle seems pretty nice. If I had to start over, I'm honestly not sure which I'd pick up.
