i ordered a tc venture 243. it will be 430 after transfer. that is 455 with a 25 dollar rebate. im going pronghorn hunting in oct so this will be for that and its my new coyote gun. im not sure what ill do with glass ill either get a nikon buckmasters (i love those scopes) or mount a kahles that i have on a deer gun. the kahles is a 4-12x50 i think. i figure for a rifle garenteed to be sub moa with ANY factory ammo for 430 is a no brainer. its not pretty and does not have some of the features of the icon but accuracy is what i care about more than looks.

here is the link

Venture - Thompson/Center

probably try and load some 95gr vlds since it has 1-10 twist

Re: ordered a new rifle today

I shot a 7mm RM Venture at the range last year and it was the most accurate off-the-shelf rifle I've ever seen, in person. The owner was using plain old Corelokts and Fed SPs and and some other nondescript hunting ammo and when benched in a sled everything was shooting under an inch. They had a couple of targets lying on the table showing near cloverleaf three-shot groups before it got hot. Pretty wild. Even offhand it felt good for a relatively heavy rifle.

i contacted tc and ask what ammo the sub moa garentee was for and they said "what ever ammo you want to shoot" thats impressive. i just wish it was a little faster twist. im not sure how a 1-10 will do with 95 gr vld bullets wich is what i would like to shoot

Re: ordered a new rifle today

I'd put money on T/C already having tested the .243 with various bullet weights and types, and that the 1:10 will shoot almost anything. You probably won't be disappointed.

I was told the 5R rifling on the T/C barrels (they make them in-house) and the quality of the barrel overall (concentric bore, smoothness, etc.) are what makes the Venture and Icon so accurate. It may be, because I've never heard of one not being a shooter. But that also make me wonder why the S&W i-Bolts are generally 2 MOA guns, because they use T/C barrels and now own T/C. Maybe T/C is sending them the rejected 5R barrels.
