Ordered wrong primers now what

Re: Ordered wrong primers now what

If you reduce your powder charge and work back up, you should be OK. Try just doing 5 or 10 at first until you get your load worked back up to where you want it.

Just remember to cut your charge before you start.

What Victor said.

Mag primers are not just for magnum cartridges. I have loaded some .44 spls with mag primers and .44 mags with standard.

My brother Slickrick picked us up 4K large rifle primers. OOOPS! They were magnums. It was no problem as we ran them in .308s and the magic was still there.

Sometimes magnum primers make a load more accurate. In my 9mm, for example, FC-200 primers are better than FC-100 primers with WSF and Winchester 147gr JHP. I tried everything with this load: varied OAL, powder charge, different brass, different standard primers. But the minute I tried FC-200 the groups shrunk by 30% and assumed a round profile.

I use them all the time, just start loading at the minimum load level listed in a reputable reloading manual and work up from there. Stay away from the top end of the load scale. As mentioned before, start with a handfull of rounds and identify your desirable load before you load a large quantity.
