Original AIAE vs AE MkII

I'm looking for info on the AIAE rifles, specifically the differences between the original and the MkII. The Hide's search and custom Google search didn't provide clear answers.

When the MkII was introduced, what did they change from the original?

Can you upgrade the original AE rifles to MkII or MkIII specifications?

Ok, in short.

AE - 5 rd. single stack mags only, original style AE bolt with 2 position safety.

AE MkII - Went to AICS style mags, now 5 & 10 round available, original style AE Bolt with 2 position safety.

AE MkIII - Still AICS mags, but now with the same bolt and 3 position safety as the AW.

NEW AE MkIII - Same as above, new version of skins are out.

No, the original AE cannot be upgraded. Mag well is too small, not worth the trouble to attempt to mill out. Mag release is likely different too. Better off selling and buying a MkIII.

From some uk forces lads, stick with an AE MK111 unless you are military don't bother with an AW.

Or a lefty south pour!!!

Original AE's also used 4 groove lothar walther barrels. I believe all the new ones are bartlien.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at an original AE and found a MkII for the same money. Seems like a no-brainer to run with the MkII.
