If there is anybody that has any experience with these bikes, gimme some input. I have read everything there is to read about them on the net. I found a killer deal on a brand new 07 at the dealer by my house, and it's a beautiful silver machine. Much more horsepower and torque than my Kawasaki and 100 pounds lighter.
Anybody want info about My Concours in my avatar, gimme a yell.
Gotta give it a new home before I can buy the new one.

I havent riden one yet but they are a good bike. A buddy has one and he loves it. The adjustable windshield is nice and like you said gobs of power.

Yeah. I don't really need that much power, but hell I don't need a Gunsite S&W 1911 or any of my other numerous toys.

Had the old lady out to the range today with me. She tried my new S+W 1911pd and loved it. It is nice to get groups instead of a shotgun pattern lol.

Man that Silver looks Sweet. I have owned over 13 bikes over the years and wife now is Anti-bike due to the three little ones I have. My last bike was the Aprilla RSV 1000 sexy Italian v-twin. Not your type of over the road machine. My Wanna be bike would be an older Yamaha V-max with a fat rear tire and a colormatched side car. I would name it the Yamaha lll-Max.... I can only dream... Or maybe the Hyper by Ducati...
Keep on Riding and good luck on your choice . I have had 4 or so yamahas and they are as good as any... I did enjoy the Honda V-65 except the small tank would only range 100 or so miles....

The FJR's are a bit heavy, but make for a very nice touring bike.

Get going about 35mph, pull in the clutch, snap open the throttle and throw the clutch lever: it'll wheelie with the best of the sportbikes.

Those are some Beautiful Bikes. Glad You are still here to talk about it. Already Know about FJR forum, and have the Connie listed on their classifieds. The FJR I'm contemplating is a new 07 AE model. Tired of getting caught in damn Louisville traffic and getting hand cramps from the clutch. Figured that would be a nice feature.

Tell Me about whether You have any throttle issues. Seems to be a recurring topic of discussion on there.

Heheh. You should try backing up my fully loaded Concours on my gravel driveway. Better eat Yer wheaties! I figure it's well over 750 pounds loaded up.

The military in geberal has always had an issue with their young men buying fast bikes and killing themselves. It is only more noticable now because of the post deployment money and more men buying a lot more bikes. It's the same old story. Take a young man with a fast bike and zero experience riding, and it always ends in a tree or a wall or a vehicle head on. Yo can apply 'safety straps', safety orange vests, or whatever other see me item you can find but it does absolutely nothing to enhance the safety of the rider. Only a good basic school, and an advanced school with track and speed training will work.
The problem is that most of them cannot handle the power or speed of their bike. Also, I have always wondered, wtf told anyone that they needed the biggest baddest bike to l;earn on? Would anyone in their right mind hand a kid a .44 Magnum for their first gun?
Yeah, it really gets me wired...

Yup Switch. I was an MP stationed at Bragg from 87-90. Worked the traffic office for about a year of that time. That was when Kaw and Suzuki were really starting to get it right. The GSXR 1000 was a brand new answer for Kaw's Ninja and it was brutaly fast compared to anything else sold at that time. A young GI could spend 4000 bucks and buy the fastest vehicle on earth. Not a good combo. Had to hose a few off the road. Privates are almost as stupid as 2nd Louies.

I got the latest issue of MCN. They cover the new Honda VFR 1200F in detail. Looks like one heck of a sport touring ride, and would be a fairly competent long rider as well.

Rode Yahama dirt bikes as a kid, and had one hella fast IT250 for hare and hound, but my street bike was a Honda CB650(bored to 714, X-Cycle Race cam, Power Flow 4:1 pipe, K&N filters, Clubman bars, stripped) It was fast as hell, burned only high test and went like stink until it burned it's wiring system from stem to stern.
The Kawi KLR 'Super Moto' was lots of fun for a while(17" Metzlers, Supertrapp, K&N, triple trees lowered 2", stripped down). It along with three other super moto'd dual sports owned Mount Tam on the Mill Valley Sunday Ride, circa '93 - '94.

The fastest I ever went on a bike was a turbo'd FJ1200 in '85. That bike hit 170 in nothig flat by third gear adn was still pulling hard when I rolled off throttle.

The new big power sport touring bikes are really cool, but I would sooner or later start removing parts to see what I could do. I guess the only thing I like for touring is really the Street Glide, but even that is too much 'glass and 'stuff'.

I really need to get out and look in th ebike shops for a day just for kicks

Well spread the word about Me havin My Connie for sale to Yer buds. I'm motivated to get a Concours 1400, but I have to get rid of the current bike first. It's a hell of a nice bike, I just have the new bike bug.

If any of you old bike freaks may remember the Honda 305 Superhawk. Basicly a street bike,did a few mods to it ,straight pipes,it had already ball roller crank shaft bearing ,strip down, re-gear,big sprocket on the back with huge knobbies tires. Mostly trail riding and hill climbing. Was a fun inexpensive bike. My dream dirt bike back then,late sixtys, was tha Macico 500 cc,with a 3 speed tranny,design for cross country dersert racing. I have yet to come across one yet. Nice bike, the 1200 FJR,the front brake set up looks the same as my 1989 FJ 1200. Speed is addicting, Feel the rush,pump my veins full of speed til it kills.......

I have a Motorcycle rental business. We rent BMWS and HD's. Recently added a 09 FJR to the herd. Very smooth,fast and comfortable. We sell em off at the end of June,our season ends then. Right now,1800 miles on her. Let men know when you are in the market. Also has bar risers,touring windshield and Factory Rear Tour Box

Thanks for the post Dave. Looks like I'm swinging back to the Concours. I have found a deal on one that is gonna be hard to beat. Just gotte sell The one I have now. Motorcycle sales must be down, cause I have a hell of a price on her, and just can't get anyone interested.
