"Our Oldest Enemy"

I can just see the firefight. Snowflake: "Oh Sargie Poo" "They are being mean and offending me with real bullets.

Sargie Poo: "Oh shut the eff up or I will shoot you myself". :)

I don't think the military virtues they're extolling are actually reflected in the beliefs, values, and behaviors of me, me, me Millennials.

I think their boot camp is going to be a desolate place if those signs actually work (which they won't, except to drive actually exceptional people who want to serve away).

If I were in charge of marketing I'd go the other way entirely. "Sick of entitlement and self centeredness? You won't find those things if you SERVE."
"Sick of Social Justice? We deal in Real Justice. Tired of Snowflakes claiming they're "Warriors"? Become a real warrior."

Those types of people don't volunteer, and we wouldn't want them. There are plenty of outstanding Millennials, just as there were plenty of outstanding men during the 1960s and Viet Nam. Sure, but fucks get all the press, but there seems to be a steady supply of patriots and heroes in every generation to a greater or lesser extent.

I couldn't stop laughing....I thought we had our problems but the Brits have proven that they are truly special snowflakes.

The world in its entirety is being infected and killed by a most heinous disease. A disease that will be very difficult to contain and eradicate.

I'm fine with every other military in the world becoming soft snowflakes (in fact, I hope they do)...just not ours.

I've got some bad news for you. I just saw a story yesterday that our Army is doing something very similar. It's a big push to focus recruiting efforts on the inner cities. As I listened to the Army spokesman being interviewed it became obvious that the hidden intent is to dilute the conservative-leaning beliefs of the type who typically enlist. He said something like, "We've always done well in the South, so we decided we need to focus our efforts on other areas."

Edit - Here you go:

Pull quote from the article:

“We want to go into Boston, Pittsburgh, Kansas City,” Maj. Gen. Frank Muth, the head of Army Recruiting Command, said. “These are places with a large number of youth who just don’t know what the military is about.”

What could possibly go wrong when the bullets start flying?

What they're looking for, if it hasn't already been said, are warm bodies willing to overlook the Constitution in the final push.

I served with people from all those places more than twenty years ago. The more city they were the dumber they were as a rule (not that there weren't some rocket surgeon hillbillies too). The best service people are those who WANT TO SERVE. They're the ones who want to be there, and who want to defend this nation. They can come from anywhere, but they're almost always vastly superior to anyone who joins to get the meager benefits or "pay". From what I've seen they have a worse retention problem than a recruiting one. They ought to be concentrating on keeping their good people rather than finding new ones.
