I was wondering if anyone had any experience with PT&G's bottom metal for the winchester model 70? I am looking to replace the factory 2 piece bottom metal with a one piece and found theirs.

Any opinions or alternatives would be helpful. The bottom metal is going on a post 64 short action.

    Thanks

I have used the aluminum versions to upgrade some entry level Mod 70's which had no floor plate and only the trigger guard.

The upgrades also included new B&C stocks and the PTG bottom metal went in with no issues. Quality is very good.

I used the unfinished veriety and i cant remember if they offer finished (anodized or blued on the steel) units.

All of thier products have always been top quality and customer service is always excelent, so you wont go wrong.

I have one PT&G and one Williams for a M-70. The Williams has the Oberndorf style release mechanism and a slightly better fit and finish, but it is twice the price of the PT&G too. Good product at a good price if you are on a budget.

I ordered one about a month ago and called to check on it, and it has yet to be made. Supposed to be in the next batch. So, if you can find it in stock, I would go that route. Otherwise, be prepared to wait. They must be pretty busy and backed up right now. Compared to a stock rem replacement, it should be worth the wait though.
