Paint vs Factory Molded GelCoat

Re: Paint vs Factory Molded GelCoat

I would have the better surface for painting even if i was going to do simple 3 color because at some point you may change the mind. While you can certainly paint both types of stocks the non gel coat type ones are better for the coating

AR, I bet you are bias. Just guessing...

I like paint as well. A rifle will become scratched, etc., if a person uses his/her rifle.

@ that point you might want to touch it up, may do nothing to it, or send it for a badass new paint job.

Re: Paint vs Factory Molded GelCoat

Not biased just stating a point that is directly relevant to his question of getting paint vs a gel coat. If one is thinking that they may want paint then the surface that is better for painting is not the gel coat. You can certainly paint over the gel coat with adequate prep and such, but it is not as good a surface as it is slick to begin with and will have small voids after media blasting and such.

Me too.....

I have my last painted stock up for sale. I'm giving up 11 ounces with the Edge to go to a gel coat.
