Is anyone using small rifle magnum primer in Lapula Palma brass for loads other than ball powders, such as 748, Blc2, or H335?

From what I've read it seems that with the Palma brass it's recommended that small rifle magnum primers be used. Now none of the reloading books show small rifle magnum primers be used with 308 loads, it's just not covered.

I've used CCI 450 small rifle magnum primer for Blc2 and am considering using the same primer for R-15.

A magnum primer would counter act what you are trying to achieve by going to a small rifle primer hole to begin with; a milder ignition.

Good luck

I certainly understand what you are saying. I have read that article in the link.

I am reloading for a new TRG-22. Using 175 SMK wtih cci 450 primer and 44 grains of BLC2.

Started at .033 off lands, and went to .005 more next 10 round then .005 for next 10 group which was 2.855 OAL and got 3/4" moa. Plan is to move seating depth out in .005 increments till I get best group with this load.

Could be the powder charge needs a tweak or two.

I know they both change pressure in their own ways, but yeh seating depth to me anyway, seems like more of a fine tune.

But then again I load as long as I can and then find a good charge.

Well tomorrow I also try RL-15 just touching the lands then another load that is .005" off lands. This should be interesting as my buddy uses it in a lot of benchrest and F class competions with very good results.

These are in additon to the BLC2 where I've been deceasing the seating depth in .005" increments. Groups have been better as I've moved out. Best was 3/4" moa with 5 shots.
