Need a new panhead for my myopta scope. Range use only. Not for backcountry hunt. Just need something very smooth and easy to lock up. What are you guys using?

Range use anything will do really. Are you shooting movers? If not you could pick up some cheap Manfrotto’ s and call it a day, they’ll lock up fine for that.
For one more data point, I picked up a Sirui VA-5 two years ago and I'm very pleased. Super smooth panning, friction adjustments and a very solid unit.
The Sirui VA5, IMO, is the BEST fluid head under $400
