i am in need of a scope for my CZ 452 trainer and was looking at the Weaver 3-10x40 thats on sale from midwayusa, but didn't know how big of a deal having no parallax adjustment for a 22 would be. i'm assuming that a 22 would actually need it more than a centerfire because of the frequency of extremely close shots. if i dont get the weaver, then i am thinking Falcon 4-14x44 and hoping that because its on a 22 maybe it will last longer... what do you all think?

IMO having a PA is critical in a 22lr trainer. You need to be able to focus precisely from 25-200yds.

We have precision tactical 22lr matches in our area, sometimes you have to engage small targets at <40yds. You're at a major disadvantage if you can't focus your scope.

I would like to have the parallax adjustment on my .22's but some of them I own dont. I dont shhot my .22's out to 200 yards, but most of my scopes that are designed for a .22 are set for 50-100 yards, so parallax isnt a huge issue.

If you are gonna reach out there, try and get the parallax.

In my opinion, the .22 doesnt need it more than a centerfire rifle. When you are engaging targets beyond 200 yards out to 1000 yards, you are gonna need the fine adjustments of parallax. Distance magnifies error!

Good Luck

Take a look at the Mueller APT 4.5-14. I have one on my cz. It's not side focus but its a great scope for the money. 30mm tube, mil dot and exposed tac style turrets. No problem focusing at close range. Shot it at 15 yds indoors to get on the paper.

cool, thanks all. i figured that parallax would be something i would want, just needed to make sure. and ill take a look at the APT, the reason i liked the falcon was because it would be similar in features to the PST that i plan to purchase for my 308. im just hoping that the quality issues with the falcon don't end up biting me.
