Heading out from DFW to Parma this week for the PRS Rimfire Nationals.

    What’s it like there?

Being allowed to use pre-deployed tripods on the clock, has me thinking about shaky and unstable props.

Is it pretty open wide out there as far as winds go?

    A few people are curious.

I've shot there a bunch for centerfire. On one end of the range you're shooting into a hillside and as you work your way down the range it opens up into more flat ground with a few smaller ridges and gulleys.

Yes, expect some shaky and unstable props. The Parma centerfire matches have always been tripod rear heavy.

There definitely should be some tricky winds, that's the norm for Parma.

I haven’t been out there since the 2008 Idaho State Sniper Challenge but yeah I remember it being some windy and dusty conditions.

We’re rolling through New Mexico now. Made sure to get dust covers. Thanks!
Hardly a puff of wind yesterday. Pretty breezy today.
Should be terrific weather the next couple days.
It's not as dusty as it used to be, but can still get pretty bad. They've put down a lot of gravel over the last couple three years trying to fight the dust. It's something the club is always trying to minimize, but the solution is very expensive/cost prohibitive.

See what you think about the range overall. They're always looking for things to improve, as long as it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Unless you have a spare arm and leg to give. It's an all volunteer club, no full time employees.

It was very dusty today with winds from 8-14. Tomorrow it’s going to be pretty light in comparison with 2-5 mph.

    🤣🤣
    That wasn't dusty.
You should see it when it's actually windy. It can be horrible.
We don't get much precipitation to help until November if we're lucky.

If you get a chance, run into Parma and go try a Marionberry pie shake at Apple Lucy's.
    So stinking good.
