PCS to Ft. Benning - different housing question

Next spring I am PCS to Ft. Benning for the MCCC. It is a 6 month PCS move and they won't tell me my follow on duty assignment until mid way through the class...unless I can pull some strings before then.

I am PCS from Alaska and plan on dropping my spouse and 6 month child off in Texas to live with family rather than have them move to Georgia for 6 months where she won't know anyone and won't be able to get a job.

I was planning on living in my camper at the campground....maybe and efficiency apartment. Does anyone have any helpful comments about BAH or other situations that work? I assume most of the single CPT's will be in Bachelor quarters and the married folks will be getting apartments. I don't want to try and get some of the other CPT's to go in on an apartment because they will more than likely be partying or what not.

Does the campground have wireless internet yet?

The Benning School for Boys, BOQ isnt that bad, ITs based on two people per room.

Across from the Jump Towers, short distance to the "O" Club. Plenty of parking. Not far (short walk) from the Infantry Hall (forgot the building number).

I've stayed there serveral times, even with my wife.

Uchee Creek Campground does not, to the best of my knowledge, have cell coverage let alone high or low speed internet (as of the All-Army Matches in February).

I don't know what the housing situation is like today (my experience is based on 2003-2006), but MCCC families were in on-post family quarters.

The Whisperwood Apartments were very nice (but pricey) when I attended the Advance Course and when I PCS'ed my family there in 2003 (we used a few weeks of TLA).

There is great value in the family networking that happens during the Advance Course and CGSC, but there is also great value in the family going home. Either way, if you choose to take them to your next PCS station they get uprooted again. Reconsider the value of keeping your own family together -- they're yours.

Just my opinion.
