Perhaps the worst invention/creation in the history of the universe

It’s all about perspective. If you want to fool some customers into thinking you care about them, but really don’t and you want to reduce head count in the CS department, is a great thing. Plus you can either fill up the super long wait times with ads for your product or play the worst canned music possible to make them go away. Win-win!

If you are an actual customer that is in need of customer service, then it sucks big hairy balls.

The VA calls us now with an automated system that tells you that you need to call them, so you can sit on hold for 45 minutes when you call them back.

Nobody shits on people like the VA. They have the crown.
You got a shitty VA location. I can call and get an answer in about 5 rings. As long as it’s during normal business hours. Funny thing is, I don’t usually have to wait for much of anything if/when I go there, which isn’t very often

Automated customer service is great when it works and you can press 1 to make something happen that you need to happen
but the other 99.5% of the time, the automation does not include the option you need.

I have had pretty good luck with amazon automation for returns. Click the order, click the item, click return, click from the list of reasons why (it works when the reason why is listed) then print your label, mail it back, refund given shortly after UPS scans the label

I ran into a case where it doesn't work, the item return list stated NO RETURNS and it looped and ended there.
The fucking thing got smashed in shipping, not my fault, I want another one

Had to choose the call me option and get amazon on the phone, they issued a refund and I was done. Why can't they add 'damaged in shipping' to the list even for a non-returnable item? It only makes sense and I am sure it happens all the time.

I would rather not try to decipher 3rd word English over poor quality IP phones if I don't have to.

The internet service provider I had customer service number had the following options:
Press 1 to pay your bill
Press 2 to hear current billing amount and pay your bill
Press 3 to hear these options again

I had to call a different number - the sales line to request new service - to cancel my service.

Did any of you guys notice any changes/improvement during Trump? Didn't he allow easier access to doctors not in the VA system using Tricare or was that a bust too?

I think the care in the community program started way before trump. I believe it was fallout from when shinskei fucked the goat with the VA.

I think what a lot of people don’t understand about VA care is that an individual is assigned a “priority” status based off a few things. One is obviously rated disability and types of disabilities needing care from the VA. Other things that can bump you into higher priority care is an award such as the PH. Most VA centers don’t actually look into your awards though, so it might still fall on the individual to let the know if they have something that can bump their priority in care up.

For a really good movie about problems in the VA, watch the movie "Article 99" with Ray Liotta and Kiefer Sutherland.

I get automated calls from my insurance to make sure I'm still alive.
I shit you not.
I get a voicemail from them to call such and such number, I call and the lady says thank you for calling.
That's it....not a damn thing more.
Every 2nd month.....for the last year or so.

You have a shitty VA apparently. Ours is pretty good as far as availability goes. Vets overall seem very pleased with it. Like any hospital, there’s always some people that are understandably pissed or frustrated. I’ve called others and had 10-15 minute wait times. Never 45. Hell, I’d drive over there and cuss everyone out before I’d wait 45 minutes to speak with my nurse or doctor.
All in all it is run by the government, which is 100% responsible for all the stupid shit that goes on in the system…and there’s plenty.

My wife spent hours and days on the phone with VA in two separate states to get meds sent for our RV neighbor (‘Nam vet) last winter. It took way more thinking outside the box than it should have. When the guy finally opened up about the problems, which were in large part due to his lack of preparation, he was just about ready to cash himself in. He was from Minnesota and wintering in AZ. They had sent his meds to MN, then to the wrong address in AZ, then my wife finally was able to talk to someone who wanted to help. Was able to pick up enough of his stuff in person in AZ to be able to wait for them to send the rest of it without him thinking he was going to die. So many older guys just won’t have the patience to jump through the hoops to get the right answers. All in all, when it started working out, it worked out really well.

That’s exactly what happens. The bureaucracy causes many veterans to forgo their own health because of the seemingly insurmountable hassles. It’s not uncommon unfortunately. These are system issues, again, put in place by the government. 🤦‍♂️

This is true and something that cannot get my parents, products of WWII, to understand. Government/bureaucracy is a plodding process that requires persistence.
