Pet loads for .308 AR-10/ GAS GUNS?

Let me start by saying I have not loaded for any .308's except bolt rifles. And have not owned a .308 in a long time....why?? Because I don't really care for the the .308. I like flat shooting, fast 6mm and 6.5mm rounds.

That being said...I have a chance to pick up a new 20" piston type large frame AR in .308. The price is such that I can easily make money on it (main reason I am considering buying it), but want to try it out.

So I am looking for pet loads, advice, recommendations for loading for it. Would like to be able to whack steel at 1000 yards consistently, but hey...its a .308 so I ain't expecting much!

I shoot AR10's and such, and they are not M14's and can be loaded just like you do your bolt guns. Just FL resize and get a good .003 bump on the shoulders and you will be fine. If you want to single load, the 185 Berger is hard to beat .010 off the lands. 190's can be loaded mag length and do pretty good too. No special majic loads required. Whatever worked in your bolt gun will most likely work in the AR10 as well, just drop it back a little and work up to a node the new gun likes.

Me 43.5 gn 4064, 168 A-MAX or SMK both work well in mine. Just got some Hodgdon CFE 223 to try out, new Forster Ultra die set and a very cool chrono...

Win brass, 44.3 grains Varget, CCI BR2, SMK 175 grain seated to mag length.
