Having almost exclusively shot carbines and pistols for years, I'm late to the bolt action game. I've been here for a bit just trying to learn. Nobody here is in to bolt guns because my state is small and ranges past 400 yards are virtually non-existant, so I have to read and teach myself as best I can. I wish I had started this much sooner because it is so much more satisfying than carbines.

That said, while it's nothing to some of you, I've spent about $25k in the past year to get three rifles (.223, .308 & .338) just the way I want them. So I hate you guys. ;)

Again, we're not really a .338LM state but I always wanted one and I've had a couple. But for some reason I always wanted a Timberwolf so when a Canadian member here had one, we worked out a trade. It took about three months to get it done by the awesome folks at Borderview LLC. that took care of the exchange and paperwork. Highly recommended.

Anyway, the rifle is pretty damn spectacular. Fit and finish are the best I have ever seen on a factory rifle. The trigger is light and crisp and the bolt is slick. I prefer the McMillan A5 to the folding stock.

Also purchased here is the S&B 5-25x56 P4F in a ERA-TAC 20moa base. The rifle came with a Pelican fitted case, 4 box mags, cleaning kit and Dewey rod and a set of RCBS dies. The ammo binder and trailer hitch are also from here of course. Snipershide is one stop shopping.

about 8 years ago, when Sinister (LTC Lewanig, commander AMU at the time) got Marteans range rebuilt and opened back up for Highpower matches, I shot next to one. Though it was a prone match one of the 3rd Batt rangers had a rifle that looked almost identical to yours except it had a different scope (don't recall which one, 56mm NXS maybe) and a HUGE Ti can. Edit: not sure if it had a rail for a clip on. He said he was testing it for someone. It's the first time I ever say anyone shoot with a suppressor and also the first 338LM. Guy was shooting 250gr Black Hills and the first round he let go I had to stop shooting and look over because I thought He had a squib that pierced the primer. I was worried he was gonna blow up next to me. His target went down, so I keep shooting. Second shot, about 3 or 4 more guys down stopped to see WTF that was, to include John Whidden who was just to my right. :)

Rifle/shooter combo did well. He had some creeping elevation but I suspect that was the can or the mirage off the barrel/can as it held about 6" of wind at 1k.

Beautiful rifle. Hopefully you find a place to stretch it's legs. Rifle like that deserves to be shot at distance.

Thank you.
I "Internet know" Sinister from another board and he is an amazing source of shooting knowledge.

As I mentioned above, this is way too much gun for this state. I just always wanted one and it's not exactly easy to find them. I do have access to a friend's farmland in upstate N.Y. where we can go just over 1600yds. It's not a bad ride and definitely worth going for a three day weekend.
