I've got a picture of my son (35 years old) holding a 44 inch Striped Bass. The only problem, his face is shadowed because of where he was standing. Does anyone know how I can lighten his face/upper body without washing out the entire picture. I can send you the picture if it's easier to do than to direct me how it's done.

    I would:
Make a few copies of the original image.

Use the magic wand to encircle his face, if possible.
    Then crop the image..

Lighten and change contrast to the cropped face.
Copy the cropped face, may have to apply the magic wand again,
and paste the new face onto a copy of the original image.

Move the face around until it aligns exactly. Definitely zoom in to do this.

I'm pretty sure there is a relatively famous guy on the internet who photoshops pictures for people. 😉

I dabaled in it years ago, and got pretty decent at it. Then my (now ex) wife found all the photos of "me" banging famous pornstar chicks and I had a fight on my hands...guy has to practice somehow.

Seriously though, zoom is your friend. Follow the advice above and you should get pretty decent results. It takes time just like any kind of art to get a realistic result.
