I am in the market for a nightforce 2.5-10 and wanted to "see" what the magnification looks like at 1000M.

I dont want a bigger scope, as this will also be used on my AR as well as my .308.

thanks!

I do not have a photo of it look at 1k but it a NF 2.5-10x32mm on a AR 308.

Winner winner chicken dinner..!!!

and for target size just divide by 10. so a 30'' target at 1k will be 3'' at 100 yards. You'll get a much better picture of this in reality that way instead of judging a picture.

10x will work at 1k. I've shot at an IPSC target using a Meopta 1-4x at 700 yards with my .223 AR15 Not ideal but still made hits.

Thats basically what I wanted to hear. Not that I can hit that far, but I wanted to get a scope that will be able to hit that far, once I learn to shoot better. Pics would help, but because there is none, I thank you!

Re: PIC REQUEST: 10X at 1000M

It comes down to ability and quality of glass as well. I have always been a bit of a magnification whore, but since getting a Schmidt and Bender, the glass is so clear that I can use much less magnification than I would prefer in a lesser scope. That being said, I personally wouldn't leave my scope on 10x at 1000 yards, because I have a hard time seeing well enough at that distance. Your mileage may vary.

Re: PIC REQUEST: 10X at 1000M

Also what do you plan on shooting?

If your shooting for groups or varmints like prairie dogs, 10x at 1k is quite a bit lacking.

It should be sufficient for a torso sized target depending on your eyes/preferences. The nightforce's glass if pretty darned good, so clarity wouldn't/shouldn't be an issue.

Re: PIC REQUEST: 10X at 1000M

In my quest for simplicity, I ended up with a USO ST10 atop a .308, it'll make hits out past 920M but at that distance a "small" hold or adjustment can be a big difference especially when you find at times the reticle can be covering a substantial portion of your target. The fudge factor at a higher magnification would be greatly reduced.

The best bit of advice I can give you is make an informed decision, do it right the first time - ESPECIALLY with optics.

You know, that is what my wife is saying... buy what you want the first time. My problem is that I want ONE scope for my AR AND my .308. If I get out to 1000 it will be in the best conditions (ie: weather, etc). I do not plan on making many shots to that distance. But the mid range is where I know that a 2.5-10 will be great with the AR (LaRue OBR 18") and decent for the .308.

Thank you for those that sent pics but I can only see one of them, as my work computer has blocked alot of sites that host pics (.mil computer).

Thanks again!

If anyone else has some, or something similar (12 or 15X) at 1000m please post up, as I am still considering my options on which scope.

Jon A: thanks for posting this. Its the only pic that I can see due to using a .mil computer (im downrange). If you have any more pics through this scope, please post them!

Re: PIC REQUEST: 10X at 1000M

+1. Thanks for posting pic Jon A. I read all over about IOR's great glass, but this sharp picture puts it in perspective. Nice clarity out edge to edge. How's the durability and re-zeroing?

Re: PIC REQUEST: 10X at 1000M

You want a 4x at 350M? I have one of those, and you can see the 450M AO in the pic as well

If you have the 2.5k and your OL lets you do it. Get a US Optics 3.2 - 17 x 58 for lower profile go with teh 44mm Obj. It will get you to 1k no sweat and offer more precision at 1k. It will also get your AR out to 600 easy and if you load right, maybe 800 on a good day

I looked that thing up, and its WAY out of my league! Pretty cool though!
