I just received my Remington 700 5R 26" in 300 WM, this is a stainless steel barrel. I plan on mounting it in a XLR Chassis not sure on the scope yet, possible NF but I'm sure it will be black. I'm trying to find a rail in SS to match the barrel, so far with no luck.

This is my first build, curious what you guys use on a SS, do you go with a black rail to match the scope or SS to match the gun. If SS any ideas where I can find one?

Appreciate all replies!
Thanks
Steve

Re: Picatinny Rail in SS

Hopefully this makes sense. I understand the concept perfectly well, but I suck at relaying how it works without a drawing. The canted base allows you to have more of your scope's elevation adjustment available to use for dialing for drop.

If you have a scope with 100 MOA of elevation adjustment on a flat base, there is hypothetically 50 MOA available for dialing for drop after you zero it. If you have a 20 MOA forward sloping base on the rifle, you'll have 70 MOA of drop available as the split is now 30/70 as opposed to 50/50.

Read this for something that's a little more in depth. It has diagrams, too.
