Picked up a RCBS JR 2 press and loads of extras for 100 bucks. Press is in excellent shape. I was amazed how solid and well constructed that old thing is! Has anyone ever used one? If so what are some pros and cons? Also with the press I got 290 1x fired 30 carbine brass, sierra 110 gr 30 carbine bullets, random primers, 1 sealed can of old IMR 4227 powder, I sealed can old hercules powder, RCBS 30 carbine dies, redding 45 ACP dies, RCBS powder trickler, RCBS deburring tool, and more. I also got 3 antique shotgun shell boxes. One is full of shells, one is missing two, and one only has three in it. I have heard that some people pay a pretty penny for those as collectibles. Is there a site I can find the value of them on? I will get some pics up soon. I also have some of these items for sale on the hide. Check my posts if interested.

I have been useing one of the RCBS Jr. Presses for about 30 years now and it was used when i got it. Its been a good press and got the job done for me. I have been wanting a Co Ax press for a long time but i just have a hard time spending the cash when this old RCBS is still doin the job.

Sounds like you got a good deal. That is quite a bit of extras if you can use those items. The RCBS press is a solid press and should serve you for a really long time.

Also looks like you have most of the components to start reloading.

I don't know about collector's value though.

I agree with Steve223. I have owned and used an RCBS Jr for the past 30 years...and I received it as a used press. The press will not do you wrong. Enjoy!

My first press was a Lyman Spar-T, bought in mid '65. It's a cast iron turret press with 6 holes and the single toggle lever system common in that era. That makes it 45 years old now and it still works very well. I have several friends who bought other brands and models of presses in the same general time period. No two were the same and the ones I know of still work as well as ever; I'm sure the others do too. Meaning, there's nothing really unique about any press because any of them will last a very long time unless it's badly neglected or terribly abused, do that and nothing will last very long.

I added a RCBS Rock Chucker in '87, it's as good as any other of it's type, Lyman, Hornady, Redding, Lee, but no better and not quite as good as some in certain ways. If I had to replace it tomorrow it would be with the Lee Classic Cast, it's the better press.
