Went to my LGS on Saturday to kill some time. While looking around I noticed two savages sitting on the Shelf, one all black the other was digital camo. I asked to see them both. After fondling them both for about 10 mins I started wheeling and dealing for a better price. I came home with a Savage FCP .308 20 inch heavy fluted barrel, 5R riffling with a threaded barrel. It has a 11.25 twist 1.5 to 5 pound adjustable trigger and a beded stock. I mounted a weaver 1 piece rail and a mueller ATP 4.5-14 scope on it.
I went out Sunday to start breaking it in. I got about 20 rounds off in 4 hours. Lucky for me it was cold and snowing so the barrel was cooling down much quicker between shots. I was shooting some milsurpluse stuff I had laying around and figured it would do well for my long shoot wait clean shoot wait clean process. I can't wait to start working up loads for it. It seems to shoot good sofar, but I still prefer my Ft/R. But at 16 pounds its a little heavy to walk in the woods with, not to mention it has a 30 inch barrel. This will be a great little range toy and deer hunting rifle. Mainly range though.
