I couldn't find much information on removing duracoat (other than duracoat saying it needed to be media blasted off), however someone on another board recommended an epoxy remover with a thicker consistency.

I used Jasco 15 minute paint and epoxy remover, brushed it on with an old tooth brush, and what didn't bubble up and fall off came off with a fingernail. I like the results. Thought I'd share this if anyone else is wanting to do the same thing.

That's not my rifle- bought the scope used, and I'm piecing together a savage 308 right now. Been lurking a while.

The stripping compound did not have any visible adverse affects on the rubber o-rings. The duracoat did not bubble or crinkle on the o-rings, and hardly released compared to the rest of the removal. I had to use my fingernail or a knife to get between the duracoat and the o-rings, and it came off in small pieces instead of chunks and strips as elsewhere.

The one somewhat comforting factor about this product was explained on the back: final product cleanup is recommended as allowing the compound to evaporate. Further, I followed up with rubbing alcohol to get leftover compound out of the ridges on the power adjustment ring.
