Alright, I'm having second thoughts about a pistol can... the situation is that I have an Octane 9 purchased but not yet submitted to NFA. I am having some second thoughts. Those thoughts are as follows:

- I have a 45Osprey that I'm really happy with... even in sub-caliber use on pistols
- I purchased the Octane 9 partially for use on pistols, but also for use on a 9mm carbine
- I purchased the Octane 9 prior to shooting the Osprey sub-caliber (and therefore before determining how acceptable it would be)

So, via the miracle of second guessing, I have come up with a variety of options:

- Suck it up and be happy with the Octane 9
- "Return" the Octane 9 and get an Octane 45
- "Return" the Octane 9 and get a Liberty Mystic (The Swiss Army Knife of Pistol Suppressors™)
- "Return" the Octane 9 and get a Liberty Infiniti

So... what do you guys think? The end goal is to have a suppressor that is usable on both pistol and rifle hosts, and will work well as a second 300blk suppressor (in addition to my SDN-6).

I have an Octane 45 hd pending and plan on buying an Octane 9mm hd.

My usage is for range fun but also for home defense where the shorter length and weight of the Octane 9mm is more important to me then the versatility.

I have contemplated buying a Liberty Mystic as purely a range can (shooting lead cast bullets etc. )

The problem with the Mystic is it's really a master of none but would make GREAT can for someone only wanting a 22lr and 9mm pistol can that could also shoot 357 and 300 blk SUPERS!

Since you already have a SDN-6 it is pointless in my opinion to buy the Mystic just for shooting blk supers unless you have another blackout host and was going to have a family hunt/shoot with you.

I personally am not a huge fan of crossover cans as you end compromising weight/length/db reduction etc. The Mystic is also a lot more expensive once you add the mounts.

Edit to add: the Octane isn't giving up a lot on the Mystic either. 357 supers/300 blk supers. You can contact Silencerco but I'm willing to bet 80-95% of what's listed on the Mystic's spec's would be fine through the Octane... The Mystic would probably be quieter though due to the added length and volume.

Yeah, when I bought the Octane, my sales guy told me that he knows for a fact that the guys at SWR/Silencerco shoot 300blk supers through their Octane 9s all the time. The way he put it was that the Octane can handle it, but just wasn't warranted for it. That's great and all, but with the headaches that are involved in buying suppressors I'm not looking to do anything that's going to void the warranty.

FWIW, I am dealing with The Silencer Shop on this... and they sell the Liberty cans as well as the SWR/Silencerco stuff (read:he was going to sell me a can anyhow, so I can't think of a reason that he wouldn't be honest with me).

I bought a 9mm can as well regardless of having a TiRant 45. The weight savings and reduced length combined to make it a clear choice. Don't regret making it a year and a half later either. Good luck....

I just want to say that if your shooting supersonic rifle rounds your warranty on your Octane most likely will not be valid and you will more than likely need to use it. The Octane is a very nice way to go and if your doing alot of full auto I would take it over the Osprey. As most of my handgun work is semi I love the Osprey. To the OP, I think you have an awesome setup with the two you have now, no need to change either of the two you have.

Good afternoon guys,

The Octane 9 HD can handle SUB sonic 300 Blackout ONLY. We have performed a lot of testing with Supersonic loads; and it will cause permanent damage to the suppressor's tube, as we have seen the tube physically stretch. The Octane 9 HD is however rated for use on the following: .357 Magnum, .357 Sig, .22LR, 5.7x28, 9mm Nato, and .380 ACP. There are certainly others, however I hope this helps clear some confusion up.

Please if you have any questions that we have not been able to answer in the past, just give us a call and I will be happy to help.

Keep it. I love the Octane 9 on the 9mm carbine, especially with the 3 lug adapter

I will admit, I do use my Osprey a lot of the time for pistol shooting and while I like it, there are definitely some plus sides to having the Octane 9. You will not be disappointed with the Octane 9, it is a great can that is definitely built very stout.
