Since the insanity of late it seems that small and large pistol primers are unobtanium . So I was wondering . If Federal primers are known for being soft ( as per warnings on Lee Hand Primer ) , would Federal small rifle primers work in a pistol round . A buddy had told me that it would work a while back so I grabbed some Sellior & Belloit small rifle primers . About one out of three would fire . Like a dope I did not thoroughly check it out before loading . Also if anyone one knows where there might be a deposit of unobtanium where a lowly pistol shooter like myself could find small pistol primers I'd be much obliged .

I did a quick test using CCI400s in 9mm. The thirty round test went without a hitch, so I loaded 1k. My dad loaded the CCI400s in 40 a few years ago when pistol primers were scarce. He said he didn't have any problems, so i was confident going in.

Plus its for an AR-9, and thats a rifle. :poop: :ROFLMAO:

I use Winchester Small Rifle primers in my 38 Super Auto +P+ loads and they work fine.

Keep in mind that size wise, you can fit small rifle in small pistol, or vice-versa. Large rifle and Large pistol CAN NOT be interchanged due to dimensional differences.

I loaded a bunch of Fiochi small rifle primers in 380 and 9mm handgun loads the last time there was a primer shortage ( during Obama Election).
    had no issues at all.
