Piston AR-10 suggestions?

True, that, unless you consider the case the piston.

Studied the drawings intently years ago and concluded that those are roller locked, recoil unlocked, delayed blowback actions. One of the few .308 cases I ever saw with a totally torn off extractor rim had been fired in one of those. Once. Its position relative to the firing line led me to believe it *had* been ejected.

If you know of any other weapon system that is capable of this, please let me know before I make a purchase. </div></div>

The particular powder and bullet used were not subsonic, but I tested an M1A and an FAL side-by side...the NON-adjustable M1A kept cycling more than a full grain of powder less than what was choking the FAL, with its fiddlewithit gas system set all the way to use maximum gas.

Problem is, that receiver and bolt are boogers to make. I would love to see a nice bullpup .308 that just uses the M14 gas system, and something cheap and easy to make like the stamped out AR 180.

Re: Piston AR-10 suggestions?

I am almost disappointed to post this, but I ended up with an ARmalite AR-10. This is my first rifle of this style, and I figured Armalite would be a good standard to start with, especially considering interchangeability. I also purchased a POF 416. I figured the reliability issues are more important for a carbine that I am going to fire 300 rounds through in a day, vs a long-rifle that I am going to put 50 rounds through.

Anyway, I am still interested in many of the rifles mentioned, it just might have to be further down the road.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Re: Piston AR-10 suggestions?

Update:

After adding up the cost of my build for the Armalite, I started to rethink the project. I would be within $200-300 of the POF before I fired the first shot. So, I ended up breaking down and buying a 20" P308 and I am stoked, but now I am in debt to my wife who helped with the purchase!

The next step is getting a never-fired Armalite AR-10 off my hands.
