I just acquired another 700 and was thinking about a knob job for the bolt. I heard that there was a plastic "BOLT ON" bolt knob available. Has anybody tried one?
I have it one of my 700's, and prefer it to the Badger Knobs I have on two others. The knuckle of my trigger finger hits the Badger knobs, but just clears the Bolt Lift.
I think it's the best knob that you can get. You can put it on yourself. It doesn't get all banged up. I think it give a better/more positive purchase than the Badger. I love 'em. In fact, I just bought a rifle that has a Holland knob/handle on it and I'm sending it out to get a stock type of knob put back on it so that I can put a Bolt Lift on it.
Did you even read through the bolt lift thread that you tagged?
Seriously though, I have one, and it is great. I love it. If I ever pick up another 700, I will definitely grab another bolt lift for it immediately. Not to mention, its only a fraction of the cost of a permanent bolt knob install, which is always a good thing! (for us po' folk that have to think budget minded)
I've got one, beyond amazing. It some of the best $ for $ investment you'll ever make. I haven't permanently attached mine, simply because I don't see a need to. It's rock solid, and awesome.
