Please Post your 20" barrel .223 velocities

Re: Please Post your 20" barrel .223 velocities

I have never used that light of a bullet in my tactical but I will say that with the 69-77 bullet range I generally am about 125-150fps less than published reloading book velocities for the charge weight I am using.

Re: Please Post your 20" barrel .223 velocities

please do not copy these loads always work up to your own max !!!!!!!
these are from a 18"
all 40 gn vmax, lapua brass
23gr n120=3550 fps
23.5gr n120=3675 fps this load shot a tiny group 5 into one very very small hole
24gr n120=3920 fps this load showed no presure signs and would shoot better than .4" at 100y for 5 round group
25gr n130=3782 fps
27.5gr aa2460=3440 fps
28gr aa2460=3520 fps

next loads i will be trying are with h335-322, just because they meter so well

No Sir, that load works in three of my 223s, a Rem 700 Varmint, A colt SP1, and my White Oak Upper, Service Rifle.

It's kind of like the 41.5 grns of 4895 for the 308s.

Re: Please Post your 20" barrel .223 velocities

Possibly because a remington sps is not much more than a 700 action to begin with, plus you have a barrel attached and somewhat of a stock so you can shoot it while you wait!
