Pictures taken from my suites in Mauritius Islands... some considerations, in Italy now is difficult to range more then 2300 meters, Vectronix says that detection capability with an ALBEDO of 0.4 ( 40% ) is about 90%....
AlBEDO from wikipedia....
Albedo (English pronunciation: /ælˈbiːdoʊ/), or reflection coefficient, is the diffuse reflectivity or reflecting power of a surface. It is defined as the ratio of reflected radiation from the surface to incident radiation upon it. Being a dimensionless fraction, it may also be expressed as a percentage, and is measured on a scale from zero for no reflecting power of a perfectly black surface, to 1 for perfect reflection of a white surface.
The tropics Although the albedo-temperature effect is best known in colder regions on Earth, because more snow falls there, it is actually much stronger in tropical regions which receive consistently more sunlight
So a friend of mine with a PLRF 15 C in Kosovo was not able to range more then 1000 m....on the snow
Vectronix say that this happended due a different frequency laser frequency between PLRF 10 and 15.....
My report is at my latitude in Italy at present time I can range maximum 2300 meters....
today in Mauritius I laser more time over 2600 meters..and sometimes I've seen 2705 meters.
temperature 28 celsius, 80% relative umdity, scattered clouds...
somebody has more info about laser range finder and albedo ?
