Plumber putty

I read that some guys use plumber's putty to keep compound out of unwanted places such as screw holes and action holes anybody use this or similar product thanks

Never thought of plumber’s putty. Curious how that would work

The plumbers putty works fine. Silly putty, modeling clay, etc. works the same way.

well if it means anything i have that kind of putty [automotive use] and it must be 70 years old and still useable [pliable]

It works great. It never dries up and is cheaper than modeling clay that does dry up eventually.
