PM sign, stars, smileys all box's w/ X's

Dident know if it was somthing with my computer settings or what. my pm indicator, and stars in the posts etc, all show up as a box with a red x in it. Ive tried restarting the comp. with no resolve

any one else run into this

Same on an IPad, an IPhone, and a PC running Chrome and IE.
