Bought my first Schmidt PMII to go on top of my Remington 700 and I'm struggling to find scope rings to suit, obviously Badger produce, not cheap, and so do Warne, don't like, but my question is who else, any information greatfully appreciated.

Re: PMII scope rings

Badger or Seekins. Don't go cheap on any top-of-the-line scope.

I just received my first S&B and had trouble with the height of Seekins low rings due to the fact I was mounting on my Rem 700 in an AICS chassis. The scope is a 4-16x42 and scope clearance was certainly no issue. However, the cheek piece on my AICS was too high even at it lowest setting for me with my stock pack installed. I am going with 1" or 1.125" Badgers to bring the scope up a bit and allow a comfortable cheek weld on the stock.

The Seekins rings are very nice if the height meets your needs.

Re: PMII scope rings

you just bought a $2k plus optic, do the right thing and get good rings for it,

i would run seekins if it was mine, i currently run Badger USMC rings on my pmII, they are good and solid, but HEAVY, and i dont need 1in rings for my 4-16, i would be better off with .92 seekins, if you bought the 25x pmII get the .97 seekins

Re: PMII scope rings

Just bought my first S&B about a month ago, I used the Badger rings. I would not go cheap on the rings with a top of the line scope. Badger, Seekins, or you can wait till they are released an try the Leupolds. Just my oppinion. JAA

Re: PMII scope rings

I perfer Seekins over Badgers, I like the streamline look, I beleave they provide more clamping force at a lighter wieght, and they cost less than Badgers.

Re: PMII scope rings

Look at the Night Force Ultras or Night Force Steel, either one will be a great product. This is what I've swithced to on my builds. Either D&B Supply or Optics Planet.

Based on all the rings I've tried and looked at the Night Force clamps look to be gripping the rail better than anything out there.

Re: PMII scope rings

I have been pleased with my set of 34mm Badger rings on a Surgeon build.

The 1" height seems to work with most rails and barrel diameters. I would do some very careful measuring if going to a lower ring.

Re: PMII scope rings

I'm not sure which base you're going to go with or about other rigs but I had Mike at TacOps put a 34 MOA base that he makes on my rifle and with 175 grain Federal Match it was dead on the 3-12x50 PM II's Factory Zero at 100yds. I'm not sure if you know this but I read somewhere that it is recommended the PM II's have atleast a 30 MOA base, just thought you might want to take that into consideration as well. Badger makes a 30 MOA base specifically for this. So I would go with their rings and base it's worth it in the long run.

It appears that when I called and asked about 34mm rings I was given bad information. They said they had them but now say they dont, after my MO was sent in. Night Force only comes in 30mm as stated above so it looks like Badger for now.

Re: PMII scope rings

William I am sure they will be in their system in the next couple of months

Yea........I'm holding my breath on that one

Hopefully it'll work out. The barrel is 16 weeks out so there's time.

For the record it wasn’t Night Force that told me they had them. I called a large distributor of BR stuff like NF gear and rifle stocks and told them I had a build using a S&B PMII that required 34mm rings. They said yea, no problem it'll take the high ultras. They told me today when I called they didn’t have them and would return my money.

I love business's that have their act together and really know what they have.
